These eight brothers originate from Chicago, Illinois and are currently based in New York. Their father is Kelan Phil Cohran who is co-founder of AACM, Sun Ra’s lead trumpeter and was mentor to The Pharoah’s, later known as Earth Wind and Fire! In the past few years, they have travelled all over the world playing for audiences of all genres; opening up for the B52’s in Chicago, opening up for BLUR at Hyde Park London and stellar performances at last year’s Electric Picnic and Glastonbury.The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are: Tycho (bass/sousaphone) Seba (bass trombone) Saiph (tenor trombone) Uttama (euphonium) Ben Yehuda, Jafar Baji, Amal Baji, and Tarik (trumpet).
