Ian Whitty & The Exchange
in assoc. with Word of Mouth
Sorry, this event has already taken place...‘While The Drunken Jailor sleeps was inspired by the Sunday morning Westerns I watched when I was younger but I think the idea of getting the first train out of dodge is one that will resonate with people at the moment’, Ian Whitty.
Hot on the heels of recent performances alongside Florence And The Machine and The Magic Numbers Ian Whitty & The Exchange release new single ‘While The Drunken Jailor Sleeps’. The single is the latest to be poached from ‘The Lucky Caller No.9’ the highly acclaimed debut studio album from Ian Whitty And The Exchange.
The Lucky Caller No.9 was produced by top Irish producer Ken McHugh (Dave Kitt, Autamata) and mastered by Dave Collins in Los Angeles (Bruce Springsteen, Janes Addiction). The album features ten indie pop songs awash with lush string and brass arrangements characterized by Whitty’s idiosyncratic vocals and literate storytelling. The success of the Album has earned the band mainstage slots at numerous Summer Festivals including Cork X South West, Indiependence, The Memphis Folk Alliance Festival in the States and most recently a performance at Murphy’s Big Night Out Winter Festival held in The Cork Opera House. Rave reviews and word of mouth coupled with incendiary live performances has won the band a solid legion of fans across the country. Previous singles taken from the album were playlisted on National, Regional and College stations alike.
